Intercultural Training –
Get ready for the next step
How sensitive are we towards the backgrounds, needs and behaviour of people from different cultures? How mindful do we communicate with them? Are we able to establish satisfying relationships to bridge the cultural differences? How well do we manage the complexity that brings wide cultural diversity? What kind of expectations do we have in terms of working together, negotiating and decision-making?
Organisations are exposed to the impact of cross-cultural differences on their business when they interact internationally. As an expat, it is essential to understand the culture of the host country and to have the skills that will help you build new networks, manage teams and motivate local staff more effectively. Within weeks you need to get settled, so that local and international targets can be met successfully.
The kommkontor21 expat, relocation or pre-departure trainings aid you in reflecting on your interactions and learning more about your own hidden assumptions. You and your family get intercultural orientation and useful tools to help you prepare for the next step.
Intercultural Readiness Check (IRC)
The Intercultural Readiness Check assesses the intercultural competency skills of individual people. It consists of a questionnaire that explores what a person does well already and how she or he can improve her or his effectiveness. IRC can support HR staff tasked to find the most skilled person for an international assignment by accompanying them during all necessary procedures and assessments.
The IRC is one of the most valuable instruments for evaluation worldwide. More than 45,000 people have completed the online questionnaire and received their personal profile. According to the IRC the four key intercultural competencies are
- Intercultural Sensitivity
- Intercultural Communication
- Building Commitment
- Managing Uncertainty
The IRC feedback clearly shows ways to optimise individual strenghts and to navigate around intercultural pitfalls. It is a helpful instrument to find out how to benefit from cross-cultural perspectives. As an IRC Licensee (IBI, Amsterdam), I will work with your team to strenghten the above competencies.
